How pricing works?
Every custom type project is unique, so pricing is tailored to the scope of the work. Factors such as the complexity of the design, the number of styles, language support, and the intended licensing all influence the final cost.
Our standard custom character set includes 250 glyphs, covering the Latin script with support for European languages. If your project requires additional scripts, language extensions, or custom features, we will prepare a proposal based on those specific requirements. Likewise, projects with a smaller scope can often be adapted to suit your budget. We are happy to discuss your project and recommend the most suitable solution, whether you are looking for a bespoke typeface, an extension of an existing font, or additional language support.
Who owns the typeface?
Every custom type project is accompanied by a licensing agreement tailored to the client's needs. Whether the typeface is developed exclusively for your brand or under a non-exclusive arrangement, all rights and usage terms are clearly defined before production begins. We typically develop bespoke typefaces with exclusive rights for the client. Alternatively, we also offer non-exclusive commissions, where July Type retains the right to further develop and release a separate version of the font. In some cases, we also agree on an exclusive license for an initial period of time, after which the rights can revert to July Type unless otherwise agreed. All terms are discussed and agreed upon before work begins.
