About JT Cyrax Slab

JT Cyrax is a contemporary superfamily that combines slab and sans styles. Rooted in nostalgia for late ’80s and early ’90s games, films, and tech logos, its squarish letterforms draw inspiration from the fonts often seen in classic sci-fi movies. Designed with jewelry-like precision by Rafał Buchner, Jt Cyrax features countless technical refinements to ensure excellent performance on screen and in print, at both small and large sizes. The aim was to create a typeface that carries both charm and restraint, a balance of character and clarity. If we were to place Jt Cyrax within a type genre, its square, boxy forms nod to classics like Aldo Novarese’s Eurostile. Yet, JT Cyrax distinguishes itself with a unique voice, offering a fresh perspective on a familiar style. With its full range of widths and weights across both Sans and Slab styles, Cyrax also aligns with the tradition of superfamilies, echoing the versatility of Univers by the legendary Adrian Frutiger.

The Slab and Sans families open up a wide range of typographic possibilities, enabling users to experiment with diverse combinations and providing a versatile palette of features to meet the demands of modern typography. As with other JT releases, JT Cyrax comes with extended language support for Latin, with plans to expand to Cyrillic in the near future.
